Information reaching the savannanews24.com indicated that the Metropolitan Chief Executive of Tamale, Mr. Iddrisu Musah Superior has been nominated for the Best Africa Mayor award in this year’s edition of the West Africa Achievers Awards organized by the West African Regional Magazine.
The nomination of Mr. Superior follows his incredible performance as the Mayor of the Tamale Metropolis, including bringing sanity and enforcing discipline in the Metropolis.
Mr. Musah Superior has won the hearts of many people in the metropolis after he decongested the central business district of the Metropolis, an exercise many think it was impossible to achieve.
The Tamale Mayor whose heroic actions gave him an accolade “Mayor 1” did not stop at the business district but went further to crackdown criminal activities in the Tamale forest and notorious “bases” within the city. Criminals including armed robbers and drug peddlers were using the Tamale forest as their save-haven.
The Tamale Mayor courageously led a combine of Military and Police in the crackdown that did not only save the forest from criminal activities but also rescued a lot of young people between the ages of 11 to 18 involved in the usage and peddle of drugs.
Again, Mr. Superior is showing more leadership through collaborated efforts with the international community to bring the much needed development to the people of the Tamale Metropolis.
The then Minister of Roads and Highways and Member of Parliament for Tamale, Hon Inusah Fuseini was nominate and awarded the Best Minister in West Africa in the Business and Leadership Award at a ceremony held in Pretoria, South Africa in the 2014 edition of the awards.
But Mr. Iddrisu Musah Superior becomes the first Mayor in Ghana to be nominated for the prestigious West African Achievers Awards slated this year.
The Achievers Awards aims to bridge the gaps amongst countries in West Africa, and to promote business and trade amongst countries in the sub-region.
Therefore, the platform of the awards was created to recognize and appreciate outstanding personalities, corporate bodies and organisations in the region, who have in their fields of endeavour stood out in excellence, and also to challenge others to strive for the top in their various vocations.
The awards ceremony takes place annually in one (1) West African country at a time since 2012, and the following countries, Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, Republic of Benin and Nigeria, have all played host to the event. This has helped host countries to secure local and foreign investments with the aim of promoting regional development.
We (savannanews24.com) however not been able to sight the date of the event and the host country as frantic efforts to reach Ms. Rossette Aliu Ms. (the Manager of West African Magazine and organizer of the awards) before press result futile.
