Super Falcons move up in FIFA ranking – Blueprint Newspapers Limited

Falcons of Nigeria have moved up eight places in the latest August FIFA Women’s ranking released on Friday.Ranked 40th in the previous edition, the Randy Waldrum led ladies’ 2023 Women’s World Cup performances saw them climb eight places and now ranked 32nd. They remained Africa’s best team at number one.On June 9, Super Falcons moved two steps up from 42nd position inherited on March 23, forming a total of 10 steps up the ranking within the last 90 days.South Africa moved from 54th to 45th position in the world and kept their 2nd position in Africa while Cameroon maintained their 56th position in the world as well and 3rd in Africa.Morocco moved 14 steps up from 72nd to 58th position in the world. The Atlas Lioness who are 7th ranked team in Africa as of June displaced Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire and Equatorial Guinea to cement the 4th position in Africa.Ghana moved one step down from 58th position to being ranked 59th in the world and from 4th to 5th in Africa.Nigeria, South Africa and Morocco all reached the Round 16 of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup I. Australia and New Zealand.
