When asked which animal was his favourite and associable with his personality, Keane responded that it was the lion.

His praise for the country came at an opportune moment following a recent tragedy that occurred in Mpumalanga.

Last week, a German tourist was shot and killed in what is believed to be an attempted hijacking in the Kruger National region of the province, as per TimesLIVE.

This led the Department of Tourism to consider various options to protect the country’s image as well as safeguard the tourism industry, which is critical to South Africa’s economic stability.

BusinessTech reported that these include having minister Lindiwe Sisulu presenting a message at airports advising tourists on how best to remain safe on their travels in the country.
