Ghana, South Africa Announce Visa-Free Travel Agreement

By John Ikani

Starting from November 1, 2023, Ghanaian and South African citizens will experience a significant change in their travel procedures.

They will no longer be required to obtain visas for visits lasting up to 90 days.

This development aims to bring the two nations closer together and promote smoother interactions.

The agreement for this visa waiver will facilitate uncomplicated travel between Ghana and South Africa, encouraging tourism, cultural sharing, and trade.

According to Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, “The visa waiver regime will simplify and strengthen the already robust relations between the two countries and enhance bilateral cooperation.”

This visa exemption is applicable for various purposes, including tourism, business endeavours, and visiting family and friends.

However, it’s essential to note that it does not grant permission for employment or any income-generating activities during the 90-day duration.
