Fashion jewellery show at Expo Mart generates business enquiries worth Rs 145 crore | Noida News

GREATER NOIDA: The 12th edition of the three-day long (July 4-6) Indian Fashion Jewellery and Accessories Show (IFJAS 2019), came to a close on Saturday at the India Expo Centre and Mart, Greater Noida with estimated business inquiries worth Rs 145 crores as against Rs 130 crore of last year – a Rs 15 crore jump.
Organised by the Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH), the IFJAS 2019 had 504 overseas buyers as against last year’s 472 that visited the business to business (B2B) fair.
“More than 504 overseas buyers and their representatives visited the fair to source requirements from a diverse range of products by over 250 Indian exporters, manufacturers and entrepreneurs from various parts of India – East, West and South,” said Rakesh Kumar, director general EPCH.
While major buyers included countries such as Argentina, Barbados, Brazil, Belgium, Colombia, Finland, France, Greece, Italy, Israel, Japan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Mexico, Nigeria, Norway, Russia, Senegal, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, UAE, UK and USA; there were also buyers from CIS countries namely Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Tajikistan and from African countries like Congo, Ghana, Gambia, Senegal, Nigeria and South Africa.
While BJP MP Manoj Tiwari, presented awards for best design and display stands at the fair, textile secretary Ajit B Chavan laid stress on more focus on Japan. “The market in Japan is different and we have to focus on that to increase business interests to suit the country’s requirement,” said Chavan.
Meanwhile the display included a range of fashion jewellery, semi precious jewellery, accessories, hand bags, purses and shoes and embroidered fashion etc. “The products were of high international standards keeping in focus western tastes and preferences,” said Ravi K Passi chairman, EPCH.
Tiwari maintained that “the government is very keen to work for MSME sector as the handicrafts not only increases exports from the country, but also creates employment for a large number of artisans and craftspersons.”
The export of fashion jewellery and accessories during the year 2018-19 has been Rs 2332.97 Crores registering a growth of 11.34 % over the same period last year.
