DC app to facilitate business with 10 Africa markets

The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry has updated the Africa Gateway – its Smart Application launched last year – to include four more African markets, taking the total to 10 countries.

Launched alongside the Africa Global Business Forum 2015, held at Atlantis the Palm in Dubai, the updated application is already available from both iOS and Android stores. It allows exclusive access to investment opportunities in Africa, its market dynamics, as well as information on bidding for tenders across the continent.

A game changer in doing smart business with Africa, the application provides insights into the investment opportunities in each of Angola, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania and South Africa in addition to newly added markets of Mozambique, Cote d’Ivoire, Uganda and Ethiopia. More than 30 articles focused on economic opportunities available within various sectors and five case studies on UAE companies operating in the continent have also been added to the application.

H.E. Hamad Buamim, President and CEO, Dubai Chamber, said the unique service is a valuable resource for the business community as it fills up the information gap about foreign markets and makes doing business in Dubai more convenient, in line with the recommendations of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to transform the emirate into one of the smartest cities in the world.

“This application has been developed to meet the pressing needs of the business community in reaching out to promising markets while enriching their experience in doing business with overseas companies and enhancing their competitiveness in the world business arena,’’ he added.

H.E. Buamim further stated that the Africa Gateway application complements Dubai Chamber’s smart services launched recently and is just the beginning of a slew of smart services being introduced by the Chamber for the business community in the long run.

“Dubai Chamber is currently preparing new applications and smart services for targeted markets in the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Latin American region, as these will help us prepare for the challenges and requirements of the next stage of development and will also go a long way in establishing the business community’s innovation and excellence in the business world,’’ concluded Buamim.

At the third Africa Global Business Forum, Dubai Chamber is demonstrating, through an Interactive platform, the main features of the application, which have attracted the interest of a large number of the Forum’s delegates.

Statistics available so far have indicated that the average number of visits by investors and application enthusiasts per month exceeded 5,000, most of who were in the UAE, USA, China, India, France, Germany and Russia, with that number set for increase following the application’s expansion into four more African countries.

Africa Gateway also has case studies on how the UAE companies have established presence in Africa, including Julphar, Delta Food, Emitac Mobile Solutions (EMS) and Genavco.

It also provides a range of analysis and insights on key markets in Africa. The user can request for specialised studies on specific sectors of the 10 African markets while getting directly in touch with Dubai Chamber representative offices in Africa.
