All set for ADB Africa Schools Badminton Championship

Ghana will yet again be the center of Africa’s attention, when the country host the ADB Africa Schools Badminton Championship for the first time in the country’s history.

Students from eleven African countries would battle out for honours in the various events at the boys and girls categories in the competition, which begins from Friday December 14, Thursday December 20 at the Tema International Schools.

Participating countries include; South Africa, Uganda, Niger, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Kenya, Zambia, Sierra Leone, Benin, Ivory Coast and host Ghana.

Mr. Yeboah Evans, president of the Badminton Association of Ghana (BAG) said, it was another great achievement in the Association’s history.

He said, it was a platform to develop more talents at the grassroot level, adding that, he was confident of a good performance from Team Ghana.

“The countries in the competition are notable for schools championships. We saw a lot of good talents in the National Championship last week who would be in our team. So we look forward to having a very good team Ghana in the Africa event,” Mr Yeboah said.

The competition, would see the schools participate in both individual and team event for age categories 11-13 years, 13-15 years, 15-17 years and 17 -19 year groups in the boys and girls divisions.

Team Ghana has at least 25 athletes who excelled in National championship to represent her in the competition.
