Mayweather vs Pacquaio Start time, TV channel broadcast list

May 2, 2015

For boxing fans that have purchased the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao fight on HBO and Showtime pay-per-view for this Saturday night on May 2nd, the time of the fight broadcast will start at 9:00 p.m. ET and 6:00 p.m. PT. This is for the U.S.

The other channels will depend on your local cable company. As for the rest of the world, below are the different broadcasters that will be televising the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight. The replay of the mega-fight between the two fighters will be televised next week on regular cable.

The Mayweather vs. Pacquiao fight will be televised in more than 23 countries around the world. Sky Sports will be televising it on PPV in the UK, albeit at a much lower price than in the United States. The fight will be televised on Televisa and Azteca in Mexico. There were rumors that it would be free, but it doesn’t appear that’s going to be the case. However, the fight will be free in a number of countries where Mayweather and Pacquiao aren’t huge stars. It would be impossible to sell the fight on PPV in those countries due to boxing fans not seeing those fighters on a regular basis.

Mayweather is a 2-1 favorite to beat the 36-year-old Pacquiao. There hasn’t been a whole lot of movement in the odds of the fight since it was first announced a couple of months ago. Pacquiao’s vocal trainer Freddie Roach has done his best to give boxing fans the impression that Pacquiao will win the fight, but it hasn’t convinced the odds-makers that this can actually happen. Roach talks of a secret game plan that Pacquiao will be employing for the fight to get the better of the 38-year-old Mayweather.

The bettors don’t appear to be buying it though because Pacquiao has never shown the ability to fight in any other fighting styles than the one that he’s been using for the past 20 years. Roach is talking of Pacquiao looking different in the fight with a new style, but the history doesn’t show that Pacquiao is capable of adapting to other fighting styles. It doesn’t really matter if Pacquiao can’t use a different fighting style because the one that he’s been using his entire career may be more than enough for Pacquiao to get the victory. He’s fast, he’s a southpaw, and he’s not easy to hit with his constantly movement.

Mayweather is going to have a tough time landing anything in the fight, and he could find himself getting outworked by Pacquiao if he stands and trades with him in the trenches. Mayweather doesn’t have the ability to throw combinations like Pacquiao despite having similar hand speed. If Mayweather does try and increase his work rate to match Pacquiao’s output there will be a good chance that Mayweather will gas out and get beaten. Mayweather is going to have to stick with what’s brought him to this point, and hope that he can stay out of range of Pacquiao’s punches by using a lot of movement to keep from getting hit.
