Why African champs Banyana rank below Nigeria

The women’s football world rankings released by Fifa on Friday left some confused as to why Banyana Banyana, despite being African champions, are still ranked below Nigeria.

Nigeria, who finished fourth at the recently concluded Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (Wafcon) in Morocco, head the top five that features South Africa, Cameroon, Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire.
