Twitter Co-Founder Jack Dorsey is Cruising Through Africa, But He’s Not Stopping in Kenya

Jack Dorsey, the co-founder of social media platform, Twitter, has been traversing Africa for the better part of November 2019. Jack, who is popular among people who use the platform, started his visit to the continent in Nigeria where he met with several technology groups in the West African state.

Dorsey met tech entrepreneurs at Lagoโ€™s Co-Creation Hub, where he had a Q&A session โ€“ although it had been hinted earlier that the CEO was not going to answer any questions from the public.

Jack also paid a visit to the University of Lagos and got to see Andelaโ€™s offices in the city. The likes of Twitter, among other huge companies such as Facebook have been using Andela to scout for talent for the developer community. Facebook, which just held its developer and business conference, iD8, in Nairobi, has been working with Andela to train upcoming and talented developers in the region.

Nigeriaโ€™s prominent online publication, Techpoint, organized a meet in the country that saw a visit from Dorsey. The forum was also attended by other key executives, including Periscope CEO, as well as Twitterโ€™s CTO.

It is at Techpoint that Dorsey met @QuotedReplies creator Dara Oladuso. The bot, which amasses millions of impressions on a daily basis, is an outstanding innovation that saw Jack Dorsey offer its developer a position at Twitter. This development did not reveal what plans Twitter has in place for the bot, with some speculating that it may end up being rolled out as a feature on the platform. This educated guess is based on previous actions when Twitter absorbed or limited the deployment of key features offered by third-party Twitter apps through its token system that cut downloads to 50,000 users.

At the moment, the CEO is having a good time in Ethiopia. We are not sure what he is doing there, but we are reasonably certain heโ€™ll meet several members of the nationโ€™s tech community, as was the case with Nigeria.

In the tweet above, Jack appears to have met, Samrawit Fikru, the CEO at RIDE, an e-taxi app in Ethiopia.

Also, Jack documents his travels with a bunch of photos and selfies on his Twitter timeline, so we will know where he will drop next. Kenya is not going to be his next stop if his October 4 tweet is anything to go by.

Headed to Africa for all of November! Ethiopia, Ghana, Nigeria, and South Africa. Going to spend a lot of time with entrepreneurs, including @betelhem_dessie @noelkudu @GETNETASEFFA! pic.twitter.com/PcLCw8LZwr

Basically, we figure he will go to South Africa, and Ghana before his trip to the continent comes to an end. We will keep track of his travels and inform of you anything noteworthy that will emerge afterward.

By the way, Twitter is deleting inactive accounts by December, so you may need to resurrect your catfish profiles and give them some form of life before the platform releases those usernames to other people.
