What usually takes months to construct, now takes weeks with new methods and building materials that Nigeria’s Tempohousing is using, according to a CCTV Africa report. A shortage of construction supplies has drawn the company to the country which is a playground for innovative, unique living spaces including hotels.
“Our solution, compared to traditional concrete, is about 25 to 30 percent cheaper than if you built the same structure using concrete — using the same sort of finishing materials, tiles and electrical sanitary wares,” Dele Ladipo, a managing partner at Tempohousing Nigeria told CCTV Africa.”
Old shipping containers are being transformed into compact, affordable houses. However, Nigerian residents are bent on letting go of traditional homes.
