Nigeria Announced It Will Boost Power Grid With 220 Megawatts

January 28, 2015

Nigeria’s power sector is getting a much needed boost. The Minister of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo, announced that 220 megawatts of power would soon be added to the Egbin thermal station, Lagos.

“What we have added newly to this plant is so huge that it is the President himself that can tell the nation,” he aded.

“Power generation is the backbone of industrialization and the intention of the Federal Government is to open up the opportunities for industrial revolution in the country” Nebo observed.

“Prof. Nebo said that the sixth unit of the Egbin thermal station had been moribund for about ten years which he attributed to the inability of the previous administrations to inject federal funds into the revival of the thermal station,” reports Star Africa.

“This is a clear indication that the privatization exercise is yielding fruitful results” he added.
