The video producer and filmmaker has contributed to some excellent music videos like ‘Adwene Fi’ and ‘Never Carry Last’ by DJ Vyrusky, ‘Wish Me Well’ by Kuami Eugene, and many other African artistes.

Rex who is bent on winning the award competes with Adasa Cookey (Nigeria), Director Kenny (Tanzania), Jypheal Tayorault (Cote D’lvoire), Said El Marouk (Egypt/Lebanon), Tebego Tebza Malope (South Africa), and Vusa Blaqs (Zimbabwe).

Sharing his excitement and thoughts on the nomination, the multi-talented artiste said, “It was a humbling moment when I heard I had been nominated for the best African video Category, My team has worked very hard for the past few years and this nomination is like the icing on the cake. I’m much honoured”.

He maintained that “I don’t feel pressured at all. Of course, I would like to bring the award back home. But being nominated alone is a very big honour.

“Well, this is my second nomination across Africa this year alone. I just won the best video director at the just ended Afrikprineur awards held in Cameroon so even though I was quite ecstatic when I heard it I wasn’t too surprised”.

Rex who came into the spotlight after releasing his debut hit single, ‘Ronaldo’ with stage name ‘Goldstar’ in 2016, revealed that, “I switched to directing because at the time, the music video industry needed a push and if I was going to do music I wanted that part of it to be in the best possible shape”.

Stressing on the relationship between musicians and Video directors, Rex said, “We go hand in hand so there is always that effective collaboration every time I work with them”.

Rexford is a graduate of the University of Ghana where he studied psychology, after which he travelled to South Africa to study cinematography and motion graphics.

He is the official video director for all Lynx Entertainment acts and has worked with artistes like Shatta Wale, Seyi Shay, Mayorkun, Davido, and Ruff N Smooth among others.
