A decade ago, Farah Fortune started her own business, and today it is one of the biggest PR firms in the country.
Fortune runs one of the most influential PR businesses in South Africa, but her road to success was far from easy.
In 2008, Fortune used R1000 of her money after she quite her job and founded African Star Communications, which focused on Hip Hop artists in SA.
Briefly.co.za learned her business grew, creating platforms for her in various other African countries, including Nigeria, Botswana and Ghana.
In an interview Successness, Fortune said she received sound advice from her mom, which helped her succeed.
“Never chase money, chase passion. Once you chase passion, money will chase you,” she recalled as the best advice she ever received.
Fortune has gone on to win numerous awards for her business, most recently walking away with the ‘Great Warrior Spirit Award’.
“Thank you @zodwakhozafoundation for not just the honour of speaking at this prestigious event but also this beautiful award! Walking away with the ‘Great Warrior Spirit Award’ means a lot! I wasn’t expecting it yet I’m beyond grateful,” she captioned her post.
