Graduates Tour Countries To Study And Generate Business Ideas For MTN

Fresh graduates, who are working in their first year at MTN in different countries, are touring Ghana, South Africa and Dubai markets to understand the operations of MTN and generate more business ideas to help the company improve its performance.

The 17 graduates, who are under the tutelage of Duke CE, a Corporate Education service provider has partnered the MTN Group to offer training to graduates of MTN who are already working in different divisions such as finance, marketing, risk, strategy and information technology.

Speaking to ModernGhana’s Ajarfor, Nozipho Mbanjwa, Faculty, Duke CE said they are in Ghana to learn about how they can find new and exciting innovative business ideas for MTN in order to make the company perform bigger and better.

She added that the visit was to understand how each market in Africa works by way of visualizing future processes that will guide them to generate sound business ideas to improve service delivery.

“Spending time in Accra has given us the opportunity to go around and interact with some MTN customers, partners and service providers. We have done mystery shopping to understand how customers are served but mostly we have also gotten to know each other better as a team made up of 17 young graduates drawn from different parts of the continent including Nigeria, Liberia, Ghana and others. We are very excited that we are at the birth place of democracy for Africa and this is very important because it amplifies the African story and identity of MTN,” Nozipho Mbanjwa noted.

She indicated that the visit is very important because it helps them to understand how to work across the different markets for MTN which operates in many countries and being African ourselves from different countries it also afford them the opportunity to understand the difference so that they can scale up their performance.

In their visit to Street Academy in Mensah Guinea, Nozipho Mbanjwa stressed that the essence was to spend time with the children to understand what their dreams are and lead them through some day activities.

“Today, we are here at the Mensah Guinea Street Academy. Street Academy has received significant funding from MTN Ghana and for us it is really about continuing the relationship but also it is in line with the values we believe in as a company. So for us, it just makes sense that we make time to come and give back because even in South Africa we make time to give back. So giving back is a very important part of why we do what we do,” she intimated.

According to her, they started the journey in July in South Africa where they spent a week adding that they are also spending a week in Ghana and another week in Dubai in February next year.
