Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors, Senyo Hosi says majority of the Ghanaian populace are ‘slow’ in taking steps to work on an idea to make them materialize.

Speaking on the theme, ‘Building, Running and Sustaining Business in Ghana’ at the Under 40 CEOs Forum in Accra, he said most Ghanaians, instead of bringing entrepreneurial ideas to life, spend time relishing it, an act he described as archaic.

He said, “Stop thinking as if you are the only one in this world who is thinking. It is very easy. You think that you are the only one God has shown the thing. Stop thinking and learn to move fast. Ghana, we are slow, that must change”.

Addressing an audience of young CEOs and aspiring entrepreneurs, the CEO for Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors noted that, the world is moving at a fast rate and needed promptness in every approach to attain excellence, especially in the business sector.

“You guys have to create new money for Africa. You have to be the new billionaires for Africa and if you don’t start moving faster than the internet itself, forget it,” he noted.

He advised business owners to stay in tune with trends in order to be updated on developments in their market and build upon their products and services to grant them a space in the global market.

“You need to consistently be thinking and looking at the trends. The world is moving too fast. We don’t do SWOT analysis again, where you do strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. You have to do trends,” he mentioned.

He added that, “You should be quite observant, and you get to access opportunities from your interactions with the environment. Keep your eye on the market and keep your mind open”.

He blamed the lackadaisical attitude he believes Ghanaians have towards work on our cultural orientation and the misconception most Ghanaians have about modesty saying, “we are trained not to want something, in Ghana we are trained to be very timid people. Don’t be proud about being modest. There is no honour to small thinking”.

He challenged the young entrepreneurs to be daring and in business relations, encouraging them to, “take charge and drive the story of Africa, think high of yourself and create value and deliver it”.

The Under 40 CEOs Forum is a program focused on motivating young Ghanaians to be more involved in contributing to the growth of the nation’s economy and grant them the platform to pitch their business ideas to potential investors.

Under 40 CEOs launched on TVC Entertainment and TVC News on the 9th of October 2016 and subsequently launched on Silverbird Television Network on the 13th of January, 2016 and has spotlighted inspiring young business leaders aged 40 and under from Nigeria, Ghana and South Africa.

Under 40 CEOs recently launched on GHOne TV in Ghana and will be reaching record 15 African countries via Africa Magic on DSTV.
