Pan-African broadband provider CSquared has appointed Lanre Kolade as its CEO.
CSquared is a broadband infrastructure company headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya. It provides services to mobile operators, ISPs and service providers in Ghana, Uganda and Liberia with high quality, high speed, reliable connectivity.
Kolade joins CSquared from Vodacom, where he spent 10 years in various executive roles, including MD of the West, East, Central Africa & South East Africa Regions as well as leading Vodacom Business in Nigeria.
He has 21 years’ experience in the telecommunications industry, spanning both Francophone and Anglophone Africa.
Also gathered additional expertise working for Benin based GS Telecom and business solutions company, SITA. He is a graduate of Wits Business School, London Business School, and Obafemi Awolowo University, holding a BSc in Electrical Engineering/Telecoms.
CSquared, initially started by Google as Project Link, is a carrier-neutral open access, a wholesale provider of high-speed metro fibre throughout sub-Saharan Africa.
Last May, South African Convergence Partners, which is owned by ICT industry veteran Andile Ngcaba, teamed up with global tech giant with Google, International Finance Corporation and Mitsui to invest in CSquared.
The parties signed an agreement to invest up to $100 million in CSquared’s existing metro fibre network operations in Uganda and Ghana, plus new markets in the future.

CSquared currently operates fibre infrastructure in six cities across Uganda, Ghana, and Liberia, with over 40 mobile operators and internet service providers relying on its infrastructure for serving mobile consumers and corporate customers.
