Africa’s Top Teams Seek To Play Warriors In Friendlies

ZIFA president Felton Kamambo said that several top African teams are courting the Warriors to date them in friendly matches ahead of the 2019 African Cup of Nations finals.

Kamambo mentioned the likes of Tunisia, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Uganda, Ghana, Cameroon, Namibia and South Africa’s Bafana Bafana as having expressed in playing Zimbabwe ahead of AFCON 2019.

Kamambo is currently in Nigeria where he was invited to attend the country’s FA awards. Newsday quotes Kamambo as saying:

These countries are interested in playing us, we have discussed the friendly matches, but we will meet again at the draw to finalise.

The Warriors are in Pot 3 along with the likes of South Africa and Uganda, and will not face each other in the first round.

However, there is a high chance of facing Tunisia, Ivory Coast and Nigeria who are in pots 1 and 2 among other continental heavyweights.
