Presidents from ten central African states have held an emergency summit in Cameroon to create an 80-million euro fund to fight the Islamist militant group Boko Haram. The leaders also pledged to improve logistic and diplomatic ties and boost humanitarian assistance.
The insurgents have killed thousands and kidnapped hundreds in a five-year rebellion in northern Nigeria and have recently intensified cross-border raids on neighbouring countries in the Lake Chad area.
